Compliance & Safety Information
Last updated: November 1, 2026
About this page. This page sets out the information required by the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), the UK product safety and consumer rules that apply to the goods we sell, and the labelling rules that apply to our packaging and to clothing placed on the French market. It is written for shoppers and for market surveillance authorities alike. If anything here is unclear, write to us at
[email protected] and we will answer plainly.
1. Manufacturer & Responsible Person (EU GPSR)
Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (the General Product Safety Regulation, "GPSR") applies from 13 December 2024 to consumer products sold in the European Union. It requires the name and contact details of the manufacturer to be stated on the product or its packaging, and — where the manufacturer is established outside the EU — the name and contact details of the responsible person established in the Union who is designated for the product.
Our printed garments are manufactured in China and dispatched directly to the customer. The details of both the manufacturer and the EU responsible person are set out below. These details are provided on this page and on the product label of the garment itself.
| Role |

Note for the site owner: the entries in square brackets above are placeholders and must be completed with the registered name, postal address and electronic address of the manufacturer, of the EU responsible person, and of the UK economic operator before this page is relied upon. These details must match the information printed on the product label and on the packaging.
Our garments are also covered by the UK General Product Safety Regulations 2005 (as retained and amended in Great Britain), and by the equivalent product safety rules in each destination country. Safety information for the specific garment you receive is printed on the garment label and reproduced in full on the Size Guide and on each product page.
2. Product Identifiers
EU customs authorities require the product identifier to accompany certain low-value distance-sale consignments. Three identifier types are used. They are recorded on the customs declaration — they are not labels that need to be printed on the garment, and they are not a substitute for the composition and care labels described in section 3.
| Identifier |
Who assigns it |
What it is for our products |
M-PID Merchant product identifier |
Us, the seller, on our own storefront |
Our own listing and product code for each garment type and size — the identifier that appears in our catalogue and order records. |
NS-PID Non-standardised manufacturer product identifier |
Our manufacturing partner |
The factory model or article number for the blank garment, and the production batch reference. Currently pending from the factory — the model and batch numbers are still being confirmed and will be added here once our manufacturing partner supplies them. |
S-PID Standardised manufacturer product identifier |
Our manufacturing partner |
A GTIN / EAN retail barcode, where one exists. Our garments are printed to order in small batches and currently carry no allocated EAN barcode. Where no standardised identifier is available, the customs declaration carries the not-available exception code in its place. |
Each identifier must point to a specific product variant and stay stable for the life of that variant, so a size or colour is treated as its own identifier. We are not permitted to substitute a batch-level number for a model-level number, and we do not.
How this appears on a customs declaration
Product identifiers are required on every B2C parcel into the EU worth €150 or less, and our logistics carrier verifies them at the point of collection. We supply them on every shipment, which is why parcels clear without a delay at the border.
Why we declare same-type items on one line
The EU customs duty and the customs handling fee are both charged per declared product line. Where an order contains several garments of the same type — different sizes or colours of the same design — we declare them on a single line with the total quantity, because that is what they are: one product. This keeps the customs charges on your parcel to a minimum and is also the accurate description of what is inside it. Goods that are genuinely different products, such as a cap together with a sweatshirt, are declared separately.
How we describe and value our goods
We declare every parcel honestly, with an accurate description of the item and its real value, and we never describe a sale as a gift or a sample. We do not understate the value of a parcel to reduce customs charges, because that is unlawful and puts the parcel at risk of being held, returned or penalised. If a customs authority re-values a parcel and additional duty is assessed, we are the ones who have to answer for it — so we declare it correctly from the start.
3. Safety & Care Information
The same instructions appear on the sewn-in label of every garment, so you do not need this page to wash it correctly.
Washing and care
- Turn the garment inside out before washing.
- Wash in cold water, 30°C maximum.
- Do not use fabric softener — softener prevents the print from bonding to the fibre.
- Tumble dry on low heat or hang dry. High heat is the most common cause of print failure and shrinkage.
- Never iron directly over the print. Iron the reverse side only.
- Do not dry clean.
- Do not use bleach.
Caps are the one exception to machine washing. The structured cotton cap is hand-washed cold with mild detergent, air-dried and reshaped while damp, and must not go in a washing machine or a tumble dryer, because the front panel loses its shape. Spot-clean the printed panel only, and never iron the brim or the front panel.
Print and material
- The print is applied with water-based pigment ink, which is absorbed into the fibres and heat-cured. There is no plastic film sitting on the surface.
- The ink is fixed once cured and will not crack, peel or lift if you follow the care instructions above.
- Expect around 2–3% shrinkage in the first few washes, which is normal for cotton. All measurements we publish are pre-wash.
Allergy and sensitivity notice
If you are allergic to any fibre or to any printing material, please test the garment before you wear it. Print and garment materials can cause contact reactions in sensitive individuals. Styles containing natural latex or rubber elastic fibre require particular care — if you have a known allergy to latex or to rubber-based elastics, contact us before ordering and we will confirm the exact fibre composition of the garment you are considering. Our hoodies contain elastane (5%), which is a synthetic polyurethane-based elastic fibre, and our caps use a metal adjustable strap with no elastic in the closure.
Children and infants
- Our garments are general consumer clothing, not children's clothing. They are not designed, tested or certified as PPE, and they are not suitable for unsupervised use by infants or children under 3 years of age.
- Keep garments away from the mouth of infants and young children, and remove any detachable parts — the cap's metal strap adjuster, for example — before giving a garment to a small child.
- A print that covers a large part of the chest can affect the heat transfer of a garment worn directly against the skin. For young children, size up or choose a smaller print area.
Labels sewn into the garment
Every garment carries the following information. These labels are applied by the garment factory to the garment itself or to the hang tag, in accordance with EU textile labelling rules — they are not applied by us after the garment reaches you.
- Fibre composition label — the exact percentage breakdown of the fibres used, as required by the EU Textile Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 and the equivalent UK rules.
- Country of origin — marked "Made in China".
- Size label — the size of the garment as supplied.
- Care label — the washing instructions reproduced in section 3 above.
4. Conformity & Standards
Our garments are manufactured and placed on the market in compliance with the following:
- Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) — the EU chemicals regime. The inks and garment components we use are supplied within the REACH restrictions applicable to clothing placed on the EU market, and the relevant declarations are held by our manufacturing partner and are available to authorities on request.
- Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR) — the general product safety requirements described in section 1, including traceability, the manufacturer and responsible person details, and the safety and care information in section 3.
- Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 — EU textile labelling rules. Textile composition labels are applied by our manufacturing partner to the garment itself, together with the country of origin, size and care labels.
- The equivalent UK rules — the Textile Products (Safety) Regulations 2012 and the retained textile composition labelling requirements for the United Kingdom market.
- Directive 94/11/EC on the safety of combustible products, and the general safety and flammability requirements that apply to clothing in each destination market.
The technical documentation supporting these declarations is retained by our manufacturing partner. If you are a market surveillance authority or a consumer representative and require a document relating to a specific order, contact us at [email protected] with the order reference and we will arrange for it to be provided.
5. Your Right of Withdrawal
Every item we sell is personalised: the guardian beast artwork is generated from the birth date and name you give us, and the garment is printed with that artwork to your order. The digital edition is also created specifically for you.
Because these are personalised goods, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply. This is not a decision of ours; it is the statutory position. Under Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU, the right of withdrawal is excluded for the supply of goods "clearly personalised" and for goods "made to order". The same exclusion applies in the United Kingdom under regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which excludes goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised.
What this means in practice:
- Once printing has started on your garment, we cannot cancel the order, and we cannot accept a return because you have changed your mind about the artwork, the colour or the beast you chose.
- It also means we cannot take an item back simply because you decided you would rather have had a different size. That is why we offer a free size exchange instead — see below.
- The same exclusion applies to the digital edition once it has been delivered to your email address.
What is still fully protected. The withdrawal exception removes one right. It removes none of the others, and every one of the following remains available:
- Manufacturing defects — a faulty seam, a print applied to the wrong garment, a garment that fails in normal use. We replace or refund in full.
- Damage in transit — if your parcel arrives damaged, bent or stained, photograph it and email us within 14 days of delivery and we reprint and reship, or refund you in full.
- Print failure — if the print cracks, peels or fades within 60 washes when the care instructions in section 3 have been followed, we reprint and reship free of charge. A photograph is all we need; you do not have to return the original.
- Wrong size — if the size does not fit, we ship the correct size free of charge on your first order. You do not need to send the original back.
- The general consumer guarantee — under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the UK and Directive (EU) 2019/771 in the EU, your goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Our obligations in this respect are unchanged by the withdrawal exception.
To claim any of these, contact us at [email protected] with your order reference and, where relevant, a photograph. We reply within one business day.
If you consider that your order is not covered by the statutory withdrawal exclusion — for example if you believe the personalisation is not decisive, or that you have raised a concern about the item in good time —
please contact us and we will handle your request as you ask. We would rather resolve a genuine disagreement than rest on the exception. Write to
[email protected] with your order reference and the reason you believe the exclusion does not apply.
6. Environmental Labelling (France)
Clothing placed on the French market must carry the Triman symbol together with the Info-tri sorting information, under Article 17 of the French AGEC law (loi n° 2020-105) and decree no. 2021-835 of 29 June 2021.
- The Triman symbol and the Info-tri sorting information will be provided with your order. The marking is printed on the garment itself or on the hang tag — we do not use a separate adhesive sticker.
- The Info-tri information identifies the product category and tells you how to dispose of the item, and points to the French public sorting guidance at quefairedemesdechets.fr.
- Our registration for the French textile extended producer responsibility scheme is [ADEME / Refashion ID]. This identifier is being finalised and will be stated on the garment label and on this page as soon as it is issued. It is not yet in place, and we are not claiming a registration that has not been issued.
For garments smaller than 20 cm² in the size of their largest face, French rules allow the marking to be provided in digital form instead. Our garments are well above that threshold, so the physical marking travels with the item.
7. Packaging Compliance (EU PPWR)
The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 ("PPWR") applies in full from 12 August 2026 and replaced Directive 94/62/EC.
- Heavy metals. Packaging used for our shipments complies with the PPWR limits for the sum of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium in packaging and packaging components, which must not exceed 100 mg/kg. This limit covers every packaging component, including printing inks, coatings, adhesives and metallised layers.
- REACH. Packaging materials also meet the substance restrictions of REACH Annex XVII, as required by the PPWR.
- Packaging waste registration. Where a sales destination requires the producer of the packaged goods to register for packaging waste, that registration is held by us or by our authorised representative for the market concerned: [PPWR authorised representative]. If you are in a market where we are not yet registered and you need to know the position, ask us and we will tell you exactly where we stand.
- Minimisation. We ship in the smallest packaging that protects the garment in transit, and we are progressively reducing void fill. Our garments travel without a plastic film bag unless a garment is a hoodie or a sweatshirt and cannot be sent without one.
8. Accessibility & Language
- Language. This site is published in English. The safety and care information on this page is the English-language version of the information required by the GPSR, and it is the same version that appears on the labels of our garments in English-language markets. Where a market requires safety information in the language of the destination country, contact us and we will supply the relevant version for your market.
- Accessibility. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA on this site: text is set at a readable size with strong colour contrast, all interactive elements are reachable by keyboard, images carry alternative text, and the page works without JavaScript. If you cannot access something on this site, tell us what you were trying to do and we will make the information available another way.
- Formats. If you need this information in a different format — large print, plain text, or another language — email us and we will send it to you.
- Contact. Compliance and safety questions: [email protected]. Please include your order reference where the question relates to a specific item.
